12) Catholic Graduate Expectations

A discerning believer

A discerning believer is someone who expresses their Catholic faith through word, prayer, sacraments, forgiveness, moral living, and reflection. I am a discerning believer because I believe that God in present and follow his good ways. To follow the path, I learn from the messages that he sends such as treating others with respect and being honest, so that i can become a good person. I also pray, attend church, reflect and forgive. There are other discerning believers that are present because I see how they show their belief by praying, saying grace before meals, or living morally.

An effective communicator

An effective communicator is someone who speaks, writes and listens. I am an effective communicator because I listen carefully and attentively to what another person has to say and writes down my ideas through essays and blog posts. I can be an effective communicator through my words by not being afraid to say my opinion or ideas to people other than my friends but still thinking before saying.

A reflective, creative, and holistic thinker

A reflective, creative and holistic thinker is someone who thinks before they do, solves problems and makes decisions for the common good. I am a thinker because I reflect a lot, and thinks if my actions are necessary before taking action. I reflect on the messages I learned and think about how I can apply it to myself. For example, if I want to try new things with different people, I can work with different people instead of my friends on group projects. I also think about the things I've learned to try and understand it. With all the messages and experiences I learned, I can make the right decisions and use information to solve problems positively and without violence.

A self-directed, responsible, life-long learner

A self-directed, responsible, life-long learner is someone who is independent, experiences new things, accepts who they are and shows their talents and strengths. I am self-directed because I do what must be done such as homework and I do what I think is right or benefits me, not what someone tells me to do or be. I like to learn and experience many things to gain wisdom and knowledge so I can become a good role model that people can look up to. I try to find what my strengths and weakness are so I know what to do and to find them, I can try new experiences so I know what I'm good at.

A collaborative contributor

A collaborative contributor is someone who finds meaning, is proud of what they do and  dedicates their time in their work or hobby that is for the common good. I am a collaborative contributor because I spend my own time in doing what I like to do such as knitting and playing the violin even if it isn't that necessary. I set goals to achieve so I can have a purpose and enjoy doing that task. I can do more tasks that contributes to the common good by volunteering, fundraising, or donating some items I own.

A caring family member

A caring family member is someone who attends their family, school, parish and community. As a family member, I do my responsibilities such as taking care of the dog, washing my dishes and hanging my clothes. As a student, I go to school, do school work and help if someone is asking for help. I contribute to the parish by attending mass, and celebrating special holidays such as easter and advent. I can contribute more to the community by participating in activities, and volunteering.

A responsible citizen

A responsible citizen is someone who teaches and promotes peace, justice and the sacredness of human life. I promote peace by not solving problems through violence, but by talking and understanding the situation to find a solution. I can promote justice by standing up to something unfair such as bullying. I can also teach others about how life is precious and why we need to cherish what we have and live a good, happy, peaceful life. I can teach others what I have learned as a Catholic and what I learned from experiences.

11) Reconciliation

What is Reconciliation?

Reconciliation is when we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness from God.

Reconciliation is important because we get to look back and reflect about what we have done. When we realize the sins that were committed, learn from it and become a better person by thinking about the positive ways to do things. Also, it prevents us from doing more sins. If we don't realize the wrong decisions in our life, we can not stop the the wrong actions. Asking for forgiveness from God tells him that we acknowledge the sins and want another chance to live a peaceful life.

Reconciliation and confirmation are related because they help us grow up and become a holy person. When we grow up, we become stronger and wiser. As a grown up, we have to take responsibility for our actions, and accept our fate.

9) Dear Sponsor Page

Dear Sponsor,

I chose you as my sponsor because you are a family friend and I am grateful to have a sponsor when my godparents or anyone else wasn't available.  You also meet the requirements of a sponsor: being older than 16, celebrates mass and had confirmation, first communion, and baptism. You are also a good example by meeting some Catholic graduate expectations. You are a responsible person because when I was little, you would pick me up after school and made sure I returned home safely. Also, you are a good  example of a Catholic believer who celebrates the sacraments and celebrates mass.

7) Fruits of the Holy Spirit

Love

Love is when you are attached or attracted to someone. When you want to be around the person and take care of them so you won't lose them. We love our family, friends, pets and many more. We are loved everyday even when we don't notice. Though it's important to love others, even enemies, it's important to love yourself so you can realize how special you really are. Without love, we wouldn't care for anyone and hate each other.

Joy

Joy is when you are happy or glad. We can be happy by doing what we like to do such as listening to music, playing sports, dancing, talking to friends, reading or drawing. Joy helps us to forget our worries and enjoy what's happening right now. It also calms us down so we don't get too stressed out.
Peace

Peace is to be calm or in harmony. We can be calm when we are sleeping, meditating or listening to calm, quiet music. When we are calm, we can reflect about life and think deeply about what we are doing or what we can change. Peace could also mean to end a fight with someone and forgive them.

Patience

Patience means to be able to be calm when things are difficult. We can try to remain calm when we have a problem, dealing with difficult people or when we are waiting. Patience can help us remain strong when life is difficult and help improve our self control.

Kindness

Kindness is when we are friendly, caring or generous towards others no matter what we think of them. We can be kind through small actions by saying "good morning" or holding the door for someone. Kindness helps other people realize that there are people in the world who care and puts a smile on our face.

Goodness

Goodness means to be a good person or Samaritan. When we are good, we do the right thing such as helping others. We can help others by standing up to bullying, pick up trash, or sharing what you have.

Faithfulness

Faithfulness means to be loyal. We are faithful to our beliefs. When we believe in something, we show how much we believe and don't care what others think. Since I believe in God, I show my faithfulness by praying, and attending church.

Gentleness

Gentleness means not to be harsh or to be in control. We can be gentle when we are in a difficult situation and handle the situation calmly and gently.

Self Control

Self control means to be aware of what you're doing and think before you do. Self control prevents us from doing something reckless or wrong. We can control ourselves by thinking before we do, be patient and be gentle.

6) Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Wisdom

Wisdom means to truly know what is right and do it no matter what others say. You also gain a lot of knowledge from experiences when you are wise and you do not judge people that easily. Wisdom is important because it helps you do the right thing and follow the path of God.

Understanding

Understanding means to know why things are happening. Understanding can help other people because you know what to do and you try to find ways to make the other person feel better. To understand, you can listen and connect to the other person by picturing the situation so you can try to relate it with yourself. Understanding is important because you gain more knowledge to do what needs to be done.

Counsel

Counsel means to have the right judgment and to know what's right from wrong. These people want to create change to make the world a better place and they lead others towards the good path. They also think very critically to make the right decision. The gift of counsel is important because you can save yourself from the wrong path and walk in the right path towards a great life.

Knowledge

Knowledge means to know and understand the world, people and much more. Everyone gains knowledge through experiences or by learning. The gift of knowledge can help us discover, provide facts, create solutions and think critically using the knowledge gained. Knowledge is important because it helps you create new discoveries and makes you aware of the world around us.

Fortitude

Fortitude means to be courageous and keeping promises. The gift of fortitude allows us to conquer our fears, listen to yourself, not give in to peer pressure, and fight for what is right and just. The gift of fortitude is important because you have the free will to live your life the way you feel is right.

Piety

Piety means to believe, be loyal and be faithful to God. This gift lets us be strong when we're with God. We can be with God by praying, attending church, celebrate sacraments and
more. This gift makes us feel safe when we're with God.

Fear of the Lord

Fear of the Lord means to the amazed by God; how loving, caring, and important he is. This gift lets us realize the wonderful gifts God has given us and his plan that guides us to peace, happiness, and goodness. A person with this gift worships and thanks God for all he has done and is not afraid to talk and praise God. This gift is important because it lets us communicate to God and show how appreciative we are.

5) Reflection on the Apostles' Creed

In my opinion, the Apostles' Creed shows we believe in.
The first part shows that the Father from the Holy Trinity is God who is very powerful and created everything, including the world and us humans.

The second part describes Jesus; how he was born, how he died and who he is. Jesus is the Son who is God as a human. He is the Messiah. God made Mary the mother who gave birth to Jesus. Pontius Pilate tortured and sentenced Jesus to death by crucifixion. They buried him and on the third day he came back to the living and ascended to heaven to be reunited with God. In heaven, he judges who may enter.

The third part explains what we believe in. The Holy Spirit is God and the third person of the Trinity. The holy catholic church is a place where we can be with God. The communion is when we have the body of Christ, we are with God forever. God will always forgive us for our sins and when we die, we will ascend to heaven and live with God forever.

2) Who I Am

My mortality is to never let anyone change who you are. Other morals include respect, tolerance, perseverance, compassion, justice, friendship, trust, treating others the way you want to be treated, humility, generosity, and forgiveness. I like to be creative and unique especially when I'm drawing or designing. I see myself as a simple person because I don't like to go over the top or over complicate when it could have been easier to do and I am grateful for the little things in life. I am a shy person who likes to be with a few people or alone at times, an independent person who would rather work alone than in groups or partners, a happy person who likes to cheer people up and thinks on the bright side, a grateful person who is thankful for the gift of life, a respectful person who follows rules and doesn't disrespect older people, and a thinker who likes to think about many things such as thinking about the future.

I was born on February 7th, 2000 at 9:13 am. The hospital I was born in is North York General in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My name, Cherry-lyn, means dear or beloved. My father chose my name before I was born. One day he asked the Lord about what my name should be and later that night, he woke up and knew what to name me.

Ephesians 4:31-32
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
This verse best describes me because I am kind towards other people since I treat others the way I want to be treated. I also try to not hold grudges because I move on and forgive.

1) This is Me.

Hello! :)

My name is Cherry-lyn Marin. I was born on February 7th, 2000 in Toronto, Ontario. I am an Aquarius who is curious, shy, friendly, random, sensitive, and independent. My family is from the Philippines so I am a first generation Canadian. I have an older brother and sister. I also have a female puppy named Sushi who is half Yorkie and half Lhasa Apso. I play the violin since I was 10 and play percussion instruments at school.

My favourite colour is light green. My favourite season is winter because it's the only season with snow. I like to go sightseeing and take photos because nature makes me relaxed and the view is really pretty. I also like listening to pop music, skating, baby animals, reading fiction books, memes, hanging out with friends, simple art, anime, comedy, sweets and roller coasters. :D

I don't like bugs especially spiders and loud noises irritate me >.< . I'm not a huge fan anything horror related (scary movies, games, haunted houses etc.) especially loud jump scares. D: I also don't like getting yelled at, spicy food, waiting, anything unfair, being tickled, catching a cold, being bothered when I'm busy and my computer that is really slow and frequently crashes.   (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
